I wanted to chime in regarding increase in rates. I am seeing it here and am
excited but I now hope to increase length in BF.
When I started as CLE in 2002 the rates at this hospital was 46%. We were
riding 70-80's % for 2007, the last two months have been 93 and 95%. We
lost a peer counselor for our county. I try to follow up especially those I feel
are leaving with any issues. I just find it hard to keep up past a month. Moms
are not at home to answer their phone or are screening calls. I leave
messages when able just a Hi, how are you and baby doing? Call me with any
questions or concerns, kind of call. We have a support group but the numbers
have fallen down to 1 or 2. With the price of fuel I think that might be
influencing it. They know I am available and I encourage them to come in for a
visit, concerns, weight checks. I haven't been able to keep track the numbers
of fall off. I do send out surveys periodically and those that return them are
gearing more for 6-12 months. Maybe, 2 or 3 2 years. I wonder how it is with
the rest of you.
