Wow! I am very envious of your 95% BF initiation rate!
We had something similar happen when we separated out the infant care class from the childbirth class. When it was the last class of series the parents all came. When we did it separately, attendance dropped significantly. When we put it back in the seris attendance went back up. I always wondered if it was yet another class to schedule for busy couples in late pregnancy and it "seemed" like too much. In your case you now have childbirth class, basic bf class, and advanced class to choose from. Just a thought.

Subject: Breastfeeding Classes
I am in a quandary about what is happening with the BF classes we offer at my hospital. We have a 95% breastfeeding initiation rate. We used to include 2 hours of BF education in all our Childbirth classes that covered the basics. We also had an "Advanced Breastfeeding" class that was very popular. It covered everything about pumps and pumping, products, supply issues, scheduling, sleeping through the night and growth spurts. It had great enrollment every month (10-14 moms). But since we started offering the Basic Breastfeeding as a separate class, enrollment has dramatically decreased for the Advanced class. We emphasize that it is two entirely different curriculums, but it just is not picking up.
How do other places offer breastfeeding classes? Any insight or recommendations are appreciated.
