Hi Evelyn,
I absolutely would lean towards a bacterial infection, likely staph, and
could very well be MRSA.
I would recommend she be treated with an oral antibiotic that would cover
staph. It might be prudent to do
a swab of the nipples prior to starting the medicine.
I would stop the other meds and just do some very mild cleansing with a
gentle soap and water
a couple times a day, pat dry with clean cotton cloth, expose to air when
able. No lanolin either.
