I rarely post myself, as a "newbie" to the lactation counseling profession, and appreciate the great wisdom and insight you all have. Our friends are involved with missionary work in northern Thailand, near Laos, mainly in support of an orphanage. They are getting together a team of medical professionals to visit villages near the orphanage as a short-term (about 10 days) mission. I've been invited to go, and at first was hesitant because I have mainly been involved in childbirth education for the past 15 years, and then lactation for the last 18 months, and wondered what kind of contribution I could make to the team. I discovered doing research online that Thailand has the lowest bf rate in Asia. This discovery really gripped me! Has anyone ever done bf education in rural villages like this, using translators? I would so appreciate any advice, or links to other resources. Thanks!
