I still have this quote in my teaching materials
"Imagine that the world had invented a new 'dream product' to feed and
immunize everyone born on earth....... credited to James P. Grant, Executive
Director, UNICEF 1991.
I recall initially lifting this directly from a small beige booklet which
was part of the initial educational materials for the initial launch of BFHI
which occured in 1991, by UNICEF; this booklet targeted health care workers
in low income countries so was not widely circulated in North America.
Members of the Breastfeeding Committee for Canada, received copies from
Marilyn Sanders in Toronto, who at that time was the UNICEF Canada rep on
the BCC.
Also from the B.C. Baby-Friendly Initiative Binder, Frances Jones & Marina
Green, authors, 2nd Ed, 2002, the quote is on 4-6 and is listed as a
statement from UNICEF,
hope this helps,
