I don't know anything in particular about tyrosinemia - in fact it is the first time I hear about it. But I remember some years ago someone here on the list made a very good example how using what we know about a condition we have never heard of and combining it with what we know about human milk and similar conditions may be used to predict what could possibly happen. So I will try this approach - tyrosinemia is an inborn error of tyrosine metabolism. Treatment includes diet low in phenilanine, tyrosine and methyonine. We know all of them are present in human milk, but we know too that partial bf is possible for babies who have phenylketonuria. So - maybe partial bf will be possible in this case too? It should be discussed with baby's medical team and metabolic specialist, of course, to determine if and how much mother's milk would be possible for this baby to have daily.
It is so good that this mom has you to help her and hear her grief about the baby's condition and possibly losing breastfeeding too...
I too will be happy to know more if someone has experience with this condition.
