Jan, I think it is perhaps a bit harsh to suggest that medical journals are
mainly fiction and do not contain, by and large, evidence-based medicine.
That said, I *expect* Big Pharma to behave sneakily. I'm much more
disappointed in
physicians who prostitute their academic credentials this way.
Not only nondisclosure of collaborators --- but also nondisclosure of
funding, falsifying data, overstating the relative importance of a single
study -- any kind of academic dishonesty is abhorrent. Lives really are at
stake.
On a happier topic, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the
Lactnetters out there for everything y'all've taught me this year... and
everything you're going to teach me next year, and the year after that...
