Hi Doreen
This is a timely question for me. A mother asked me yesterday if I could
help her bring in a milk supply when she adopts her next baby. She was so
disappointed when told by her doctor that it was "too late" when she adopted
her son, who is now 3 months old (don't worry, we discussed her current
options!)
Anyway, she mentioned that she is on Zoloft, and asked if it could possibly
be a galactagogue as her breasts had been so full and uncomfortable lately.
I couldn't find any indication of that in my resources at work, so your
information is helpful. She has never been pregnant, and this snippet might
be enough to spur on her efforts to get her son to latch on at this stage.
As to your question on oversupply in an already lactating mother....I
haven't noticed it yet, but will keep an eye on my clients who are on those
drugs. I'm thinking of one mother in particular where the only thing going
right in her life at present is that her baby is growing really, really well
on her milk.
Best wishes

Hi all: I'm not sure if this has been discussed previously on lactnet,
but I'm wondering if anyone is noticing oversupply issues in moms taking
certain antidepressants?
