I'm not a trained bra-fitter, but I preferred the shoulder-hook kind.
I could easily unhook it by reaching in through my neckline. That wouldn't work if you were wearing a turtleneck, though!  The remaining structure of the support fabric and the folded-down flap made a nice "shelf" of support. My center-hook bras had no support once they were unhooked.
