Tracey,
Making a suggestion is absolutely different than writing a
prescription. I love how Lisa Marasco just said in the "making more milk"
conference I attended in San Antonio how when you talk to a family member or
neighbor or friend who tells you they have "xyz" and you tell them to go
home and take some tylenol, you are not "prescribing" (!) , you are simply
making a suggestion. You can suggest till your blue in the face....it still
isnt "prescribing".
I would just caution you to know what you are suggesting before doing
so.
In the NICU, you are dealing with tiny sick little babies. Many herbs
are not warranted as they may exaccerbate what may be going on with the
baby. So, make sure you know the side effects of any suggestion and that it
is ok for them to take. You should "run it by" the Neo's and see what they
think about "such and such" herb.
I know that in our NICU the docs prefer pumping, STS and reglan to
herbs.
