I'm constantly being thanked for putting porn up on youtube. The porn
in question being Jack Newman's latch videos. I'm usually being thanked
by 16 year old boys, and I find it amusing. One day, they will blush
when their babies are being breastfed! But it's darker much of the time.
I'm also constantly being attacked by fundamentalists for putting child
porn on the internet. That's the breastfeeding toddlers. In fact, a
campaign was started in order to force YouTube to remove the
breastfeedingbabies channel as it was pornography involving babies and
children. Thankfully, YouTube have never even mentioned this craziness,
and I just have to keep deleting the torrent of abuse and death
threats. And the non-stop outpourings of graphic detail of how often
people jacked off to a latch video (not 16 year old boys). Spend a
couple of months on YouTube, and you get a sense of how dark and
unbalanced the world is in places. And how utterly deep seated misogyny
is - fear and hatred of women's bodies. Not to mention hatred of
babies and children.
Many parents put up videos of their baby breastfeeding, and remove them
a day or two later, shocked and horrified by what they then read.
Although I don't know how the man who was reporting "La Teta" to the FBI
for child porn got on. After all, he was reporting the Puerto Rican
Government for child porn, as it was a health education broadcast. So
perhaps the FBI arrested Puerto Rico...?
The fascinating thing is that Breastfeeding Toddlers has campaigns of
outrage and abuse - and La Teta barely a murmur. La Teta has far more
breasts, and far more playing with breasts, as it's toddler's tweaking.
But La Teta is 'official'? Or is it that La Teta is professionally
produced in a studio? Oh how I'd like to know why they react to one and
not the other!

On Breastfeeding Toddlers, ignorance of children in so endemic, I've
been accused of showing a video with a 5, 7 and 10 year old child.
She's 22 months. I also had an amazing rant from a mother who
breastfed until 18 months, but anything past that was obscene, and the
child in the video should be removed by protective services. Ah yes,
that well know leap in sexual awareness between 18 and 22 months....
It is interesting how many women who have breastfed, come on and attack
others for breastfeeding past when they gave up. This has ranged from 3
months, to 3 years. That well known tick of the clock, from 11.59, to
12 midnight, that signals that breastfeeding at 11.59pm is healthy, but
that at 12 midnight, it's obscene. Tick tock... tick tock... tick...
My favourite one this week, was a man who asked me to remove the
channel, as his children lie about their age and surf the porn sites,
and look at nipples on the latch videos. So could we please remove
them? Double think R'US. (Or, No Responsibility R'Us)
On the lovely Neptune Fountain. In the following art installation
video, there is a wonderful shot, with lovely music, of the Neptune, and
another fountain with the same image - a mother with milk/water flowing
from her breasts. The video is 'off', and weird, and some find the
sexual motifs afterwards, with the milk and cream, offensive.
Personally, I think I like what she was getting at, but she just didn't
do it very well. Again, this idea that all images of the body is
sexual, and therefore porn, arose recently. When others looked at this
woman's artistic attempts to discuss Woman As Porn, and declared it...
porn. *sigh* No, just not very good art. But the actual montage
sequence, is lovely.

On the subject of glamorous women being seen breastfeeding, there are
three very famous pictures, which I can't track down right now. One is
Lucy Lawless (Xena) breastfeeding her baby. One is Jerry Hall. One is
an equally famous in the modelling world, but I don't know her name,
model, actually breastfeeding on set, in between takes on a fashion
shoot in Paris. The value of these images, is not that of sexualising
breastfeeding, but that women whose income and fame depend on their body
shape, can breastfeed without threatening their livelihood. And yes,
are empowering in the message that you can be glamorous and breastfeed,
in the same way as the "Be A Star" campaign does.
