One of the interesting insights I picked up at last week's VELB / ILCA Conference in Vienna was from a poster from Iran. This was a small sontrolled study of the use of the spice turmeric, applied externally in a paste, as an anti-inflammatory for the treatment of mastitis. (Forgive me if this has already been discussed on Lactnet and I've come in late, but I've been travelling.)
I'd love to hear if anyone is using it in settings where turmeric is not so well known as a food spice, and if further studies are planned. As turmeric has a bright colour, a strong smell, and can stain, I was wondering how its use for external application is best managed.
