My babies and my grandchildren were not regimented by schedules - but it's
been interesting to see how some of them developed their own very rigid
internal schedules...

Even to the point where son #2 (Alex) HAD to have a quiet, uninterrupted 2
hour nap in the AM and another in the PM - which caused all sorts of
difficulties as older brother had activities and younger sister never needed
that much sleep!

Now I see HIS son following also a "schedule" - actually a NON-schedule of
eating every 2 1/2 hours day and night up to (now) 7 1/2 months of age.  No
matter that some solids were introduced - no matter that mom went back to
work - no matter even that (horror of horrors) a few days mom was unable to
pump enough and he was given formula!  He STILL followed this schedule - and
now that he get solids he doesn't get formula as mom pumps enough for his
daytime feeds since he STILL eats every 2 1/2 hours at night.  

By the way, I think my daughter in law is FANTASTIC - she even takes him and
the nanny with her when she has to travel.

...so when moms report to us that baby has a schedule - we might want to ask
a lot of open-ended questions before we assume that MOTHER has imposed it on
BABY...
