Thanks Lara, hadn't thought about the real possibility that someone might
think you could measure lactose content with something designed to detect
and quantify glucose. If there's a way to muck something up, the numpties
will do it every time. Never heard that word before but it is blatantly
obvious what it means and a quick check at Wictionary shows that my
suspicion was correct: someone who embarrasses themselves by making a
mistake based on ignorance (Scotland). In England it just means a plain,
unvarnished idiot.  So, thanks again - I feel sure I will find ways to use
it, all too regularly.
