This is a question, I'm not disagreeing with you, just wondering.
Wouldn't the physiology of a woman who has been "starving" consistently
for long periods of time be different than that of a woman who is used
to eating everything she wants, probably including lots of high sugar
and high refined carbs? So a woman who has been in a low calorie etc.
diet consistently, might not have a major change in blood sugar levels
etc. when she doesn't eat during labor. Maybe a woman who has been
eating a typical diet in the U.S. or other western countries would react
differently to fasting? I think we often make the assumption that our
diets are better than those in third world countries just because food
for us is plentiful. I'm not talking here about people who are
literally starving, of course, just about those who just get enough to
maintain their weight etc.
