I was not correct - I should not have relied on memory.
NICE postnatal guidance is to weigh as part of a full neonatal check
within 72 hours (in practice this is day 3, but might be done on day
2 from what I see and hear - can be done in community or in hosp) and
then again at the end of the 'newborn period' which is undefined as
far as I can see, but probably 10 days . Baby will already have been
weighed at birth). I don't know where I got '5 days' from except
this is policy in some places.
I am right however in saying that this is not always done, and when
it is done it is not always reliable.
