Hi Jacqui,
We adopted our son from South Korea. He has been at 50th %ile for height, and only the 5th %ile for weight, ever since birth, until now at 21 months. Our doctor was also concerned, but I just followed the LLL guidelines of observing his alertness, happiness, reaching developmental milestones, eating when apparently hungry, and of course, still nursing him. So far so good, and I also concur with trusting mother's instinct.
I should add that I've had practice in disagreeing with our doctor! He does not see the point of extended breastfeeding, and so I have felt comfortable in not being too concerned with his "concern". Of course, we have a health history of the birth parents, so that helps...
Wendy
