"Four States Meet CDC's Breastfeeding Goals
Only four states- Alaska, Montana, Oregon and Washington- meet all five Healthy People 2010 targets for breastfeeding, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The results of a recent national study, called Maternity Practices in Infant Nutrition and Care(mPINC) Survey, highlight the need for hospitals and birth centers around the nation to implement changes in maternity practices that support breastfeeding. The CDC reports a substantial number of facilities used maternity practices that are not evidence-based and are known to interfere with breastfeeding and states in the southern US generally have lower mPINC scores."
I googled mPINC and it makes for fascinating reading. Still trying to find results, would love to know where NJ is in the ranking :-(
PS: Hey Diane, isn't this article very Weissingerized!
