While not a warm meal and perhaps not appropriate for this baby, might this
child be able to be spoon fed frozen breastmilk like a slushy? I've
suggested this to moms in the past whose babies won't take enough milk from the
bottle, or at all, due to nursing strike and it's worked, at least for awhile.
The other thought is mixing breastmilk with solid food, such as sweet potato
which is dry and spoon feeding. I had a working mom whose baby wouldn't take a
bottle at all nor the slushy of frozen breastmilk who told me she could mix
3-4 oz of breastmilk with a meal of solids. These were all older babies, 6
mos or more. Whether either of these would work long term, I'm unsure but
this would avoid adding thickeners and possible risks.

The slushy idea was from Cathy Genna who said it can be helpful for babies
with sensory integration disorders who need strong stimulus to muscles, oral
ones in the case of feeding, and that cold is a stronger stimulus (I hope I
have this right).
