Nope - not at all. It sounds to me like moms milk came in and baby is
managing just fine. In fact, he is actually doing well.

Looking at the weights you listed the baby has gained 200g in 5 days
(starting on day 5). This is an average of 40g per day. For those of us
(like me) who need this all in ounces so our brains can make sense of it
(Yeah, yeah Rachel M! I know! LOL!) that means baby has gained 6 ounces
in 5 days. This is a very nice weight gain! We want them to gain an
average of 1/2 - 1 ounce per day (whatever that is in grams! 15 - 30?).
When we track babies weights daily what we find is that babies don't gain
the same amount every day - sometimes they gain more, sometimes less,
sometimes nothing at all - you may even see a bit of a loss sometimes.
BUT, if you average it out...that is when you'll see a more uniform average
per day.

So, this little on gained 2.2 ounces (80g) from day 5 - day 6. But from day
6 to day 7 he only gained .7 ounces. However, when you average them, it
looks as if he gained an average of 1.45 ounces (40) per day. The pattern
repeats - one day gaining a lot the next not as much - but still all weights
were within our guidelines. All the weight calculations look good tho - at
least to me. :)

The other thing that I look at it is that baby is having the wet and poopy
diapers - mom says he is satiated, happy and alert. There is no problem
here that I can see. This little one is not feeding on colostrum anymore -
he is drinking milk. :) It sounds to me that what happened is mom was
feeding frequently and never went through the engorgement so many of us see
(due to infrequent feeds).

I would stop worrying about them - he is doing well. :)

Warmly,
Jaye
