I may not have seen that thread; my understanding of this strategy, though,
is that one gives a minimal amount of supplement first, to "take the edge'
off the baby's hunger and calm him. Then use the breast to actually "feed"
the baby, so that over time the baby learns to associate satiety with the
breast. In other words, the breast is used as the "main course" rather than
the "dessert". :-)
