Ok now wait: This is an MD, right? So did he miss the class on genetics
and how human bodies develop based on the genes they receive from their
parents and that things like eye color, hair color, lip size, chin cleft and
penis size are GENETIC???

I suppose we could say that if breastfeeding determines penis size that the
same holds true that NOT breastfeeding results in a smaller penis right? In
that case.one must wonder - perchance this person was NOT breastfed and is a
bit tee'd about it?

Sorry - Denise - I feel your pain for even having to ask such a silly
question for someone so out of touch with the reality of genetics and simple
human development. I mean, geesh, if I, a simple little old LC with no
medical background to speak of knows that breastfeeding has nothing to do
with penis size and that genetics does..I'd like to know why an MD does not.

Apologies for any offense.having a rough night here in Sac myself. Rachel
I'm grumpy with you.

On a slightly different note and update on my baby with the 21 ounce wt loss
on day 12. They saw the Ped yesterday who determined (as I thought would
happen) that baby's weight gain was so good (up to 7'4" on day 19 - an 8
ounce increase in 5 days) that mom could go ahead and discontinue pumping
and start reducing supplementing in a couple days. Mom came to see me
today. Per pre and post weight: Baby transferred only 4/10 of an ounce.
Suck eval showed normal suck - tad weak but I blame that on large weight
loss and feel that will resolve nicely in a day or so. Mom noted that
baby's suck feels much stronger today than it did yesterday. I went through
a low milk supply triage - and she is borderline for hormonal issues
impacting milk supply. I did a visual eval of her breasts: Clearly and
obviously hypoplastic. Of course I can't diagnose here - but classic
presentation. At least 6 inches space between bulbous areola and tubular
breasts. I surmised that tho mom did feel the milk come in and had
fullness, that because there wasn't enough to feed baby the baby lost weight
and strength and couldn't suck well which then compromised the supply
further. We are working on increasing the supply as well as getting baby's
weight up even more (she is still 10 ounces below on day 20). Mom is very
open to all ideas and willing to do what she needs to do. Her main question
(after being reassured that baby was in fact fine and no long term issues
should occur) was: Why didn't they see this in the hospital? So many
people saw her - even an LC and everyone missed it. I don't get it. BTW -
this baby was the cutest little girl I have seen in a while! I just
couldn't stop snuggling her! Mom was so pleased to let me. :-)

Take care.

Jaye
