Hi Tanya,
We have quite a few mothers go home after 2 day stay post c/s. This can be
done successfully, I think. The biggest thrust should be on early initiation
of bf and rooming-in. I hope you have staff and administration that are
receptive to that. Pain relief is important too, and having a family member
(partner or other) or even a friend stay with the mother 24/7 to help with
the diapering and such, and to "babysit" the baby if mother is sedated or in
the bathroom. If you don't have outpatient visits, do you make phone
followup calls? Or have a list of resources mother can turn to for direct
help, like LLL or private practice LCs.
