I have had my babies' cords fall off at 6 days for my first and 4 days for
my other 2 children. My friend's kids all took 3 weeks and she was told to
put alcohol on her cord stumps to clean them daily and I always attributed
it to that...alcohol was "preserving" the cord stumps more than anything
else I thought. Mine got smelly but detached fine, early on.
