I've read that exposure to cow's milk, and the growth hormones in that
cow's milk, encourage earlier puberty, especially in girls who have more fat
cells to store all that junk in.
I'd guess (and it's purely a guess) that breastfed children, especailly
those who are breastfed for extended periods of time, are exposed to far
less cow's milk than artificailly fed babies, even in families who consume
"typical American amounts" of dairy products (which, in my humble, personal
opinion, is waaay too much).
I wish I had resources to cite but I'm drawing from the memory of late night
internet browsing sessions, I'm sorry to admit.

first period about 2 months before my 13th birthday, and was among the first
of my friends to do so...breast development was another nightmare entirely)
