"As a nursing mother, your top priority is providing breastmilk for your
baby."
I begin my talk on language by asking the audience which they would choose: bottle-feeding their baby Western Culture-Style, but with their milk in the bottle, or breastfeeding their baby *their* style, but with formula in their breasts. I tell them there's no right answer, but *my* choice would unhesitatingly be to breastfeed with formula. So no, as a nursing mother, my top priority was absolutely *not* the milk. And as Sam points out, it certainly wouldn't have been the baby's top priority. So, um, exactly who *is* it who's convincing us to choose Milk over Mothering these days? It wouldn't be industry, would it??
