My oldest is a little less than 28 (she's 26), but I thought I'd chime in anyway.
I learned to breastfeed by being the second-born of nine children and
watching my mother (who was an RN and a bit of a rebel in her day)
breastfeed my siblings. My youngest brother was born when I was 17.? I
breastfed without ever considering formula - it wasn't an option.? I learned
to breastfeed lying down because I needed a nap.? As someone else said,
necessity is the mother of invention.
I also believe that having natural childbirths without interventions or complications made the natural process of breastfeeding that I had learned by watching my mom easier to achieve.
