I just attended a course on breastfeeding, HIV and complementary feedings.
It is the WHO/UNICEF course on infant and young child feeding counselling.
They recommend a training of trainers (5 days) followed by a training of
participants (5 days) for any group interested in using the course material.
I really liked the HIV part on counselling a mother and i liked very very
much the part on complementary feedings...i realized how little did i know,
before i took the course, on complementary feedings!!
I learned how to combined foods in order to have the best nutrituous value,
the consistency and amount. They showed us how to help best fill in the
gaps (after 6 months of exsclusive breastfeedings) of energy, iron, zinc and
vit. A.
If you need further information, WHO can provide a list of master trainers
able to help you. You can email me privately and i will let you know the
person in WHO responsible for "infant and young child feeding counselling"
course
