I'd check the archives Nikki, as I certainly recall a long and detailed
post about how the hormone pattern of actual labour had to be in place
before nipple stimulation would be 'helpful' in bringing on
contractions. IIRC correctly question was asked by one of our own
community, who had been prohibited from tandem nursing, and wanted
scientific research evidence for the Dr, as she just didn't want the fight.
So there was a serious of extremely detailed posts. I think only this

The point I raise when this is brought up - is if it was that simple,
not only would women be going into labour at the drop of a hat all the
way through pregnancy (heaven forfend!) but that all that money and time
being spent on chemical inductions, could be replaced by simply plugging
Mum into a breast pump! :-)
