Our lactation group conducted a little trial of our own with the various
bottles and nipples. We did not want to recreate the wheel, so tried to
work on the Sandora/Gromada study.

Basically, what we found out, is that we need to do it again, controlling
more of the variables. (like the person squeezing the teat to check the
stream with compression.....too variable)

But, in regards to Lisa's post, I'll add my .02 worth.

The new adiri is a very nice looking breast bottle, but the flow rate is
still too slow. (even the new more user friendly one) I suggest mom poke
another hole in it and only suggest this for older baby who refuses all
other bottles.

I agree with avent analysis. Babies rarely open up to it like breast.
The breastflow bottle has been one of my favorites, but occasionally a baby
will use compression instead of suction with this, and display some problems
with transferring milk from breast. But it absolutely allows for a very
nice wide open latch. Its a good option for babies without suck problems.
The Born Free bottle has a slow suction rate, but fast compression rate.
The Playtex ventaire natural latch standard neck has very slow suction rate
and slow compression rate, whereas, the wide neck has a bit faster suction
rate and still has slow compression rate............SO..........my babies
that are not doing well on breastflow often get to try the latter ventaire.

Medela and Dr Brown bottles were about the same, with Medela's suction rate
being slower but compression rate faster.(than Dr Browns)

So, all in all, the correct bottle depends on the individual babies ability
to suck.
