Subject: [LACTNET] Article in NY Times about Wyeth and drug reps
There is a good article in today's NY Times about a physician who became a
drug rep for Wyeth, the maker of a popular antidepressant. He talks about
how he finally became embarassed and rather sick at what he was doing on
behalf of the pharmaceutical company, and I could not help think of the
formula reps who go around and cultivate physicians and nurses to hawk their
products (and that's a nice term. I could use others which would be less
flattering and more fitting). I suggest you all go and read it. I have the
full text, but it is in today's Times. It has serious echoes to the formula
industry...and is sickening to contemplate.
Kathleen
