I received a similar message but it was about maintaining me on the mailing list, not certification status. It seemed to me like they were simply trying to clean up their mailing list, so I did click. I hope I'm not struck by lightening.
I personally serve as the list maintainer for a few other lists and sometimes have to send out a message saying "If you're actually reading this message please raise your hand, hit reply, and type 'I'm here!'" It's good to know how many people are reading at all. By their reply dates, I also find out who only checks email occasionally and if I really want them to know something, I'd better use the phone!
