I am still catching up after a couple days of LN, so please forgivce me if this is a repeat. I wonder if those who nurse less with each child are those who have not had a satisfying experience. For example, with a first child a mom may nurse a few months, but never feel comfortable with it. She may have experienced problems that were never resolved, never have really "bought into" breastfeeding it, but only doing it out a feeling of obligation or whatever. With the second she says she will "try again", but stops even sooner. After all, number one is "OK" inspite of weaning, so why keep trying. If she tries at all with number 3, it will probably be for even less time unless the baby really gets her "hooked" on nursing or she has some other "epiphany" that gets her thinking differently.
