She's ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. There is expert disagreement and entire BOOKS
written extolling the "right" way to hold a golf club.  Not to mention just
about every other physical movement/skill - playing a musical instrument,
using a sports implement (bats, racquets, clubs), knitting techniques and
more. 

If you can get milk from a lactating breast, hear nice music coming from
your violin, hit the tennis ball or make a hat, you're BY DEFINITION
successful. Techniques are the MEANS to an end, not ends in themselves. And,
"the worst enemy of good technique is good luck."  Sometimes the "worst"
technique yields fabulous results. That's called "success" too.
