Two years ago, I had a client whose baby was born at home, Mom was transported to hospital for retained placenta and for some reason babe was left home with dad for hours. He was inconsolable when mom returned home and seemed very angry at her. He would not feed at all. I went over to the house, ran a bath, put Bach Flowers in the water and put mom and baby in the tub (I have never ever had a homebirth midwife tell a mom NOT to bathe). The baby nursed within minutes and the last I checked was nursing at two years. Mom had pumped for a year with her first and had no desire to go there again. My success with co-bathing is so extraordinary that I find it absurd that it is not among the most common of early interventions (although I will say that I had done with and without Bach Flowers and it is better by far with the Flowers--happens more quickly, integrates more fully).
