Just a quick update on the 2 year old I am working with. Mom is
breastfeeding her about 3-4 times a day. Baby choked on a banana and grandma freaked out
and was hitting toddler's back. Child refused to eat anything except yogurt
drinks and breastmilk for 20 days! They tried everything. Mom finally brought
baby to occupation therapist. The OT worked with child for about 1.5 hours.
She used a special soft stick to put on child's tongue. She added some sweet
Pixie Dust candy. She slowly added some pudding and then switched to
applesauce. OT also had child feed doll with spoon. Mom also had success in getting ch
ild to eat a bit more after this. I am glad to hear things are turning
around! Mom is very glad she did not stop breastfeeding (as doctor had wanted).
Take care,
Annette Leibovitz
