I am working with a mom who had an augmentation 7 years ago. By day 6 she pumped 3 hours after a feeding and got 3 ounces of milk, which was just right for her 8lb baby. I've kept contact with her and she seems to be doing great, the baby has more than 8 wets a day and way more than 4 poops a day. She had the type of surgery in which the nipples were completely removed and resewn, tissue was cut out and an implant was inserted. I assume that 7 years was long enough for nerves to grow back to send messages to the pituitary gland and somehow enough ducts are opening to the nipple. She nursed another baby 16 years ago for 2 years. I'm wondering how often you ladies actually see women with augmentation with this kind of success.
She does have some overall soreness on the whole breast (one a little more than the other)and is working on the latch to cure the cracked and sore nipples. I've advised her to wean off the codeine and substitute it for ibuprofen, it's been 10 days now. (C-section)
Have you seen that a mom with an augmentation can have enough milk in the beginning and not be able to keep up with supply? Most of my experience is with moms who can only make a small amount of milk and have to supplement with artificial baby milk from the beginning.
