Got a question from a pregnant mom today which I am not sure how to
answer. 2 years ago mom had breast augmentation done, the most
unfavorable type of surgery for breastfeeding - over the muscle, periareolar
incision. Doc said it won't cause any problems with bf...
Mom is well educated on the subject now - I reffered her to the BFAR
resources at the beginning of her pregnancy (she is now 7 monyhs along, it is
her first baby) and she is aware that there will be problems. She called today
to tell me that one of her breasts leaks colostrum while the other not - she
wonders if this is a good sign that recanalization had occur and wether it
could be seen by an ultrasound now. She wants to visit her doctor in order to
reveal what is happening in her breasts and what are her chances of succesful
breastfeeding. I am not sure about this - is recanalization visible and could the
doctor compare prepregnancy images with what it looks like now, which I am
sure is quite different from non-pregnancy?
TIA,
Christina in Bulgaria
