Hi Ana
I have no experience re collecting colostrum prenatally and am interested in
the responses you will get from others.
But I did assist a mother whose baby was born at 26 weeks following a
placenta abruptio. She had previously had a massive breast reduction and
was told she would not be able to breastfeed.
She started expressing frequently within hours of the birth - produced
*very* little in the first few weeks, then went on to produce enough for all
her baby's requirements during the hospital stay (3 months) and subsequently
breastfed exclusively for many months. It was hard work and very
discouraging in the beginning.
Of course there are no guarantees - but the human body is full of surprises.
The wait-and-see aspect as well as the worry re the baby's condition is so
difficult.
