According to the FAQ on the TOXNET site <http://sis.nlm.nih.gov/toxnet_faq.html> (of which LactMed is a part) the data is "updated when new information becomes available." And they check for new data at least once a week.
I'm a geek and a publisher, not a health care professional, so I cannot compare LactMed with Dr Hale's book other than to say that unless you have a smart phone, Dr Hale's book wins on portability, but LactMed wins on timeliness. I leave questions of completeness and usability to you professionals.
