For those of you who work in a hospital setting, how do you collect your data on how many of your patients are breastfeeding or not? We have tried different methods and are still finding inconsistency. We are currently asking the discharging nurse to fill out a questionnaire prior to patients going home. We want to ask all the patients, even those who are considered non-nursers, if they have breastfed at all, even once. We also ask about exclusivity. Our problem is that some of our nurses don't do the survey at all and some who do, are only filling it out partially. Despite 'counseling' the nurses, we are still struggling with getting 100% compliance. I was hoping to find out how other hospitals are collecting this data and also exactly what data is being collected.I appreciate any help with this I can get.KimKim JacksonRN, BSN, IBCLCLactation SpecialistMBU/Perinatal ServicesLakeland Regional Medical CenterOffice # (863)284-1685Office (863)284-1685Confidentiality Notice: This is a transmission from Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
