I have to thank Winnie for her post on knee jerk reactions. I too, have always
been reluctant to post on Lactnet for fear of the knee jerk reactions to any
posts. And even though I read, reread and reread my posts again before
hitting the send button, it never fails that someone will be offended,
unintentionally. With a group this large, inevitably someone will take offense,
which is why I post reluctantly, if at all!
My intention of my original post was only as an example of a boycott, not to
imply that all American's share this viewpoint. Winnie said it correctly
here... "her intent, as I saw it, wasn't to discuss the merits or lack thereof of
the particular boycott, but as an example that in some situations (whether or
not you agree with the boycotters) a boycott has been effective." If any of
you think my intention was other than that, please erase that thought from
your minds, as it would be an incorrect assumption of what I am actually
thinking. :)
I will be more careful with any messages I may post in the future, although
the embarrassment I felt after reading Jo-Anne's response will certainly make
me very reluctant to post any messages any time soon!
Jamie
