Hi again today,

I have a mom who was diagnosed a congenital blood problem during her
last pregnancy and has to take this medication, acenocumarol, for
life. Therefore, her baby is now eight months old and has been exposed
to the medication since before birth. The mom is concerned about her
child being exposed to the medication for so long, and she asks if the
benefits of continuing breastfeeding outweigh the risk of an ever
longer exposure. I have looked up the medication and it is considered
safe; has a high molecular weight of 353 and binds to proteins on a 99
percent. However, we have found no studies on mothers who have taken
it beyod 45 days postpartum.

Do any of you have any information on the continued safety of
acenocumarol beyond this period?

Thanks again.

Kika
