I am wondering how others are thawing breastmilk for NICU babies. I
happened to notice that our nurses were thawing breasmilk at room
temperature until it gets "mushy" then returning it to the refrigerator.
Everything I found on the internet mentioned NOT thawing at room
temperature.
A search of the archives located a posting that discussed a study (I think from
Norway) which showed that breastmilk inoculated with bacteria, frozen and
then thawed at room temperature, showed very little bacterial growth.
Anyone familiar with this study?
TIA,
