Diane
I think it is quite a common response for someone close to a mom having
trouble and pain, to suggest she just wean and go on to formula feed.
Therefore, I think the mothers need to have a heart to heart talk with the
Dads, letting them know exactly what they need from them. Examples: I need
a shoulder to lean on, a shoulder to cry on, make suggestions re improving
the breastfeeding if you have some, I need you to look objectively at what
has and has not worked.
Dad should ask mother, "what can I do to help?" The mother needs to let Dad
know that she does not want him to suggest weaning.
Really, I'm sure the Dads are just at a loss of how to help.
