I agree with the pediatrician's approach. I would treat the mother (who does
have symptoms) and observe the baby for symptoms. Treat baby if the symptoms
present.
There are 2 sides to this issue, and a person can make an argument either
way. All meds do have side effects, so if this can be avoided it is a good
thing. In my vast experience, I have seen many mom/baby couples who with
just one getting treatment and it resolved OK.
