Dear Friends:
Do babies ever loose this ability? I wonder, especially after reading Mary
Herrington's story about her son. Gill Rapley, from the UK, says that babies can
always feed themselves, and speculates that some of the feeding battles that
can occur with older babies is because they want to feed themselves, and not
have someone shoveling in spoonfuls of slurried foods.
As for using the breast crawl in breastfeeding recovery, the oldest baby I've
yet seen was about 5 weeks old.
warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MS, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CCE, CIMI
