Once you get up the nerve to do type 3 and 4, it is not difficult.

I like using a "miracle blanket" to immobilize the arms, and have an
assistant hold the head.  There is a tool called a "grrove director" made to
slip under the tongue and isolate the frenulum in the "groove", protecting
the floor of the tongue from the scissors.

They do tend to be a but thicker, and ooze a little more...but not always.
Getting the baby to nurse ASAP helps the most.
