My children are definitely listening to me when they hear me on the
telephone helping a new mother or giving tips to a mom to be. I really
stress the importance of skin to skin. Well, my 7 yo boy and 4 yo girl
are playing "family" and my daughter apparently just "pushed her baby
out of her vagina on the bed" (I have home births so that's what they
always role play although sometimes there's a helicopter to Loma Linda
involved b/c my son was airlifted to their NICU following a traumatic
birth which resulted in his near-death). My son just came running out
of the bedroom to ask me: "Mommy, this new baby needs to be on its
mother's skin. Is it ok to use a sling so she won't drop the baby?".
(I said "yes" so he's rigging up his child-size Over the Shoulder Baby
holder for his shirtless sister to hold her new baby in -- it's a small
black cat, by the way - she's so proud!
And I think we're limited to three posts a day so that's it for me until
tomorrow.
