Dear Folks:
In many part of the world, wine is part of the meal. In Italy, I see this in
my husband's family. Wine is on the table at lunch and at dinner; my
father-in-law would have a small glass along with his meal. When my toddler daughter
wanted some too, she was given a splash of wine in a glass of water....she
didn't drink it, beyond a taste, and was happy that she had what everybody
else had.
This approach to wine is about enjoying the taste of a fermented drink to
complement the meal and NOT AT ALL about getting a buzz on.

It might be a good idea to try to find out why the mother needs to
drink alcohol every night. She may be traumatized to be separated from
her baby all day and needs to wind down after a hectic day at work.
